Celebrate the New Light Festival
Brought to you by First Night Greenport
First Night Greenport is joining forces with the local arts community and the Greenport Theater in offering a variety of events to greet the arrival of 2005 on Long Island's North Fork. All four of the Greenport multiplex theater's screening rooms will house a wide menu of events in all areas of the arts, including music, visual art, film, and poetry, for both youngsters and adults. Local artists are also working on beautiful, interactive light installations to illuminate Mitchell Park, where carousel rides will be provided free by the Village of Greenport during part of the evening.
The eighth annual First Night festivities, under the heading New Light Festival, will conclude with the midnight countdown in Mitchell Park, followed by fireworks brightly lighting up the night sky to mark the New Year's arrival. There will also be free carousel rides for the kids all night long!
The events in Mitchell Park are free to all and admission into the movie theater is $5.00, with children under five able to attend for free.
